According to Annex 1, product-contact components should be introduced into the system in a pre-sterilized condition whenever technically feasible. Ideally, this should be achieved through RTP ports or material transfer locks while the isolator doors remain closed. Direct contact between gloves and critical components should also be avoided during setup.
Using dedicated handling and installation tools—such as removable equipment handles—can help facilitate an efficient, controlled, and Annex 1-compliant setup.
